Greetings, fellow Italian lovers! Hard to believe that summer is just about here! For those who didn’t suffer through three ridiculous snowstorms in March, it’s probably already started. Here in our neck of the woods, my kids and I are still patiently waiting for the last day of school. They can hardly wait to say goodbye to homework and early morning wake ups, and I’m counting down these last remaining lunches I have to make. And I mean literally counting down. As of this morning, I have 36 left to go. This is what happens when you have 4 kids who refuse to buy ...
Although it will be a huge relief to ditch the routine for awhile and get a break from taxiing the kids to their activities, summer can bring with it its own set of challenges. I know I’m not alone in this. When hectic, overscheduled days suddenly turn into long, lazy ones with no plans on the horizon, us moms can get a little panicky. Sure, there are summer camps and day trips, but that can get expensive. And all that running around can infringe on one of the main perks of summer vacation – no more carting kids around! Or at least we can cut back.
So, what can we do to fill up all that free time? How about some Italian enrichment activities for your kids. Maybe it’s been a goal of yours all school year and it kept getting pushed to the back burner. Or maybe your child is just now getting old enough to benefit from this type of activity and you can’t wait to dig in.
Whatever your situation might be, Piccoli Passi has got you covered! We’re now offering a four week session of Italian that can be done right in your home, at your own convenience, and on your own time table. Each week has its own designated theme, with a variety of hands-on, printable activities to get you and your child speaking Italian. And don’t worry if you’re a beginner yourself. This program is designed to be user friendly for all levels of Italian, including beginners.
Here’s how it works. Each Monday, you’ll receive an email announcing the week’s theme and containing all the necessary attachments for the accompanying activities. You’ll also receive detailed instructions on how to use them, along with plenty of tips on how to incorporate more Italian into your daily routine. Some of the activities included can be used in multiple ways and can go into your child’s toy rotation for use over and over again.
This special online summer session of Piccoli Passi begins on July 16th and will continue for 4 weeks, ending the week of August 6th. The cost is $44.99. For more information, or to order the session, contact Ann Marie at email@example.com, or send an inquiry via the Contact page. The themes covered are listed below:
Week 1: Una giornata in spiaggia! (A day at the beach!)
Week 2: Esploriamo l’aria aperta! (Exploring the outdoors)
Week 3: Facciamo un viaggio! (We’re going on a trip!)
Week 4: Giochiamo! (Let’s play!)
These themes are all relevant to your child’s life as they enjoy these summer months, and each one will tie in a number of topics that make up a preschoolers world – colors, numbers, shapes, articles of clothing, action words and so on. While the session is only four weeks, your child will receive a foundation in Italian that can last year round.
Also coming soon … Piccoli Passi will have available for purchase a set of resources to create an interactive Italian language classroom right in your home! With these resources, you can easily incorporate Italian into your daily routine, giving your child the exposure and input necessary to become proficient in the language.
Instead of simple sets of flashcards for drilling, these materials are interactive in nature, encouraging play and conversation. They’ll learn vocabulary with matching sets and board games. Track the weather each morning with a colorful weather wheel. And learn their bedtime routine with a checklist. And all items contain English, as well, for beginner parents learning along with their child. This product launch is just a few weeks away, and they make a perfect companion to the online Summer Session. Below is a sneak peek at one of the pieces for our Learn the Seasons board game. Stay tuned for more details!
In the meantime, enjoy the good weather and all the long awaited end-of-the-year festivities that have finally arrived. Registration for Fall classes will be here before you know it, and we’ll all be wondering where the summer went.
